Presentation of Papers

Annual Performance Reports of the;

(i) Department of Public Finance for the year 2016
(ii) District Secretariat - Colombo for the year 2016
(iii) District Secretariat - Batticaloa for the year 2016


Presentation of Reports from the Committees

(i) The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Sustainable Development and Environment and Natural Resources was presented by the Hon. Sandith Samarasinghe, member of the Committee on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. (Mrs.) Pavithradevi Wanniarachchi.

(ii) The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Internal Administration and Public Management was presented by its Chairman, the Hon. Gamini Lokuge.

Questions under Standing Order 23(2) of the Parliament

Private Members’ Bills

(i) The Hon. Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Laila Umma Deen Foundation (Incorporation)”

(ii) The Hon. K. Kader Masthan was granted leave to introduce the following Bill, entitled

“Abdul Majeed Academy (Incorporation)”

The above Bills (i) and (ii) were referred to the Minister of Social Empowerment, Welfare and Kandyan Heritage and Minister of Education respectively for report to Parliament under Standing Order 47(5) of the Parliament.


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-

(i) Regulations under  the  Merchant  Shipping Act
(ii) Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Amendment) Bill - with amendments


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Pre-fabricated housing scheme for Jaffna Peninsula” was proposed by the Hon. S. Shritharan.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1930 Hrs. until 1030 Hrs. on Friday 7th July 2017.
